DESSERT TAMALES IN ASHEVILLE? YES Y’ALL, THEY ARE KNOWN AS TAMALES DE DULCE.

Hell yeah my peeps, tamales in Latin America are very popular and diverse. Just in México alone, tamales can be very different depending on the state the person making the tamales is from.

Now, as you can imagine Mexican food is also influenced by immigration, culture and ingredients, and I LOVE IT.

Yes, I like authentic and traditional food, and I also appreciate how multiculturalism and creativity shows up in today’s  food. You see, when I was a kid the TAMALES DE DULCE my mom and tias made in Puebla were made of strawberry flavor with raisins and I  LOVED THAT.

Well, today I want you to know that a couple weeks ago I had the fortune to visit with Dilcia at Mamacita’s Taqueria in downtown Asheville and she had made these BOMBASTIC NUTELLA AND CREAM CHEESE TAMALES y’all!

The mixing of chocolate, corn masa and the cream cheese is brilliant. I’m a big fan of these tamales, I know Mamacita’s made coconut lime tamales a few days ago, but unfortunately I was too slow to get there on time, as they sold out in just a few hours.

Mamacita’s is open every day and is located at 77 Biltmore Avenue in downtown Asheville.
