What up my people!? I hope you are doing great and that you survived the food comatose known as Thanksgiving! Seriously yo; what a time to indulge in overeating. Hell I do it, I’m not proud of it, but I do it.

And since I know, we all love food, here is my first round of ❤️❤️❤️MEALS YOU MUST HAVE IN ASHEVILLE❤️❤️❤️

Mamacita’s Taqueria

You MUST HAVE a burrito made of: steak, pork, chicken, or any of the available guisos from MAMACITA’S TAQUERIA🔥🔥🔥. That’s right you all, of course I was going to include the ONLY Mexican restaurant in town that has won BEST BURRITO in AVL. That’s right y’all, FOR SEVERAL YEARS IN A ROW! Ok, what makes it a MUST HAVE?!

  1. Made fresh in front of you, with a huge variety of ingredients for you to choose from. The concept is simple. However, it is the QUALITY of locally sourced ingredients as well as the SAZON of those making the guisos that makes your burrito DA BOMB 💣.
  2. These guys are supporting local, yes y’all, what you see at Mamacita’s Taqueria is a local business supporting other local businesses as much as possible, and this has created a STRONG LOCAL FOLLOWING. Beyond that, they are also buying high quality ingredients IMPORTED FROM MÉXICO such as organic corn.
  3. They have the friendliest staff always eager to help you, and happy to guide you on how to make your burrito. I have been coming to this place for years and it is always a pleasure to say hi to Paty, Carito, Mary, Jorge, John, Liza, Francisco, Jimmy and the rest. But these guys I have called by name have been here for many years and that my friends should tell you something about the  loyalty and care this team has for each other. The locals know this and that is why Mamacita’s survived the pandemic. Their food rocks and for this reason MAMACITA’S BURRITOS ARE A MUST HAVE IN ASHEVILLE. 🌯🌯🌯🌯🌯

caldo de res - pupuseria patty

All right Asheville, by now many of you know Pupuseria Patty and local latina powerhouse Patty Saenz, for her famous pupusas. Yes sir, that’s what makes this place so popular with many of her local clientele,  but, did you know she also makes ☝🏽a MUST HAVE SOPA DE RES? Sopa de res is BEEF STEW and this is for sure a great way to warm up this winter.

This lady made strong waves in the local culinary scene in 2020 during the pandemic and this year thanks to her cuisine, doña Patty has secured a spot in our local scene as one of the latin@ rising stars in town without a doubt👊🏾

This sopa de res is amazing, it is as good as my mom’s Caldo de res, However, we don’t call it sopa where I come from, but that don’t matter you are going to love the plantains, yuca, potatoes and meat in this tropical and  AWESOME BEEF STEW.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Pupuseria Patty has two locations, and if it is to cold you can order via Kickback!

1563 Patton Ave in West Asheville and

All right folks, here is a place that has tons of great food, and it is going to take you several visits  to decide what is your favorite dish because I’m sure you are going to LOVE IT!

The mastermind behind this restaurant is Chey May Sujitra, an immigrant lady from Thailand that is without a doubt RAISING THE BAR FOR AWESOME CUISINE IN THE WEST SIDE, ☝🏽 take a look at the previous blog I made about her, and you will see what an impressive culinary background she has, then you will understand why I believe we are so lucky to have her in our city.

PINK NOODLE SOUP is such a delicious treat y’all, the mix of ingredients makes it light, meaty, savory and the peanuts on top makes it so unique that I can honestly say, I never had anything like it. I’m pretty sure I will be spending some of these cold winter nights sipping on this delicious soup and I STRONGLY SUGGEST you try it as well 💯 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Thai Pear is located at 747 Haywood Rd and you can check out their menu here: https://www.thaipearlasheville.com/menu

All right my peeps, I’m going to say it the ONLY WAY POSSIBLE. You HAVE TO TRY THIS TACO, I’m Mexican, tacos are Mexican food and I went to school in Guadalajara the city where BIRRIA is originally from. So, if you are downtown Asheville, you visit Asheville or you live here, I want you to know that it was this taco what made me think of making a list of MUST HAVE IN ASHEVILLE! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I LOVE IT, this is the BEST version of BIRRIA I have had in this city.

In fact, I’m impressed with the skills of Chef Hector Revilla, a NEW YORKER of Venezuelan and Colombian heritage that can make this taco soooo freaking AWESOME. Brother you are now MEXICAN to me 🇲🇽

Take a look at their menu here: www.elgalloavl.com

There is people with dreams and then, there is people that follow their dream. This is the case of Chef Macario Jimenez, a Mexican immigrant that is KICKING ASS with his FOOD TRUCK SABORA 🔥🔥🔥

I love this guy’s story, hard work, persistence, passion and a whole lot of TALENT. Yes folks he is from Mexico and he is making you the MOST AMERICAN of all foods, HAMBURGUERS!.

What this guy is doing in his truck is OUTSTANDING SANDWICHES AND HAMBURGERS, I liked them so much that I believe he has the BEST food truck with this concept in town.

So, what makes the cut for my must have? YOU MUST HAVE SABORA’S CUBAN SANDWICH 👏👏👏👏👏
